The online art gallery of Inspirational Art4u (www.inspirationalart4u.biz) is owned and operated by me, Edward McNaught-Davis to show my interior design gifts and arts. I reside in West Wales  where I am inspired by much of the varying beauty of the Welsh countryside and its coastline.

I prefer to paint/illustrate scenes depicting escapism and freedom but with a sense of contemporary responsibility. The common denominator among all of my pictures is the vivid sense of colour used to enhance a scene.  I strive to achieve the right balance of colour to make the picture come alive so that you, the viewer, will feel part of it.

I am inspired to do many of my paintings and it is quite common these days for faces and illustrations of people and animals to appear in my work which I did not consciously put there. These additional inspirations are of subtle quality and blend in well with the composition. Once you have spotted them it is difficult not to see them again.

Some of my colour work has been achieved with artist’s quality Oil Pastel which is generally a difficult medium to work and it is quite unusual to find an artist who depends on it as a sole medium in any one painting.  Also I use Acrylic, Watercolour, Oil Paint, Crayon and Chalk Pastel as well as Pen and Ink.  It is rare for me to use an under-painting as I prefer to paint straight away without guidelines in another medium.  This gives a certain fresh approach to the work in hand.

My online art gallery paintings may be viewed from the main picture menu of the online paintings gallery on this web site or from the drop down menus above. If you know what you would like to see then you may jump straight to the appropriate web page from any of these links: landscapes, seascapes, woodlands, rivers + streams, waterfalls, sunsets, farms, steps + doorways, castles, mountains, aerial, towns, boats, wild flowers + berries, deserts, abstract, trompe de l’oiel, miniatures, prints and greeting cards. Similarly, if you would like to commission me to paint your favourite scene then details are given under commissions or you could contact me directly by email to discuss your requirements. Some of my  latest paintings are shown under the New Art section of this site. The Site Map shows all areas of this web site on one page for your convenience.

Many cartoons have been published either under my pen name of Ed or under one of my other pseudonyms.  Corporations have used my cartoons for advertisements, presentations, publications, technical guides and simply to hang on the wall.  Other commissions have included numerous Christmas card designs as well as a selection of illustrations for a religious publication.

My online art gallery cartoons may be viewed from the main menu of the cartoons gallery or on the black and white cartoons page or the colour cartoons page.

I use various software tools to help me to ready my work for publishing. These include raster & vector drawing tools, photo image editing & desk top publishing. Brands such as Serif and Adobe are in constant use.

My paintings and cartoons hang in private collections within the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Australia and the USA.  In July 1997, my work was shown on UK Television.  Picture Sizes are purposely small for storage and ease of delivery.  Much larger work has been sold and is frequently undertaken.

The copies of my pictures shown throughout this web site were achieved with either a digital camera or via a flat bed scanner both of which have resulted in a slight degradation of true colour. Similarly, it is important to remember that paintings viewed on a PC have artificial light shining through the back of the image which can make images appear brighter than they are really.  All images of my paintings and cartoons are shown in either .jpeg or .png file format.
