New Art paintings are my very latest Welsh artworks to be included on this online
paintings gallery. New contemporary art paintings by me, the artist, Edward McNaught-Davis,
will appear on this new art paintings page first until newer contemporary Welsh artworks
replace them. The existing contemporary art painting will then move to an appropriate
online paintings gallery page of which there are many. Recently I have been experimenting
with digital art but I much prefer traditional painting and so I am now busy building
up new stock and completing commissions to produce many more Welsh inspirational
paintings. I have sold some existing painting stock this year; notably “Swiss Alps
Impasto” and “Rosehips”. During February 2011, I was commissioned to do a new art
painting of “Moel Famau” and in March 2011, a Welsh artwork of “Afon Nant Peris”
below. “Beach Fanny” is a tongue-in-cheek painting of the female anatomy whereas
“Caerfai Bay” is a real place although I tweaked the composition to suit me better.
Currently (January 2012), I’m engaged in creating farming paintings of Wales and
in particular scenes of grassy meadows with cattle and sheep within. Also flight
views as aviation paintings.

“Moel Famau”
Acrylic on Canvas
305 mm x 254 mm
(12 x 10 inches)
About the Painting: “Moel Famau”
Moel Famau translates to "Hill of the Mothers". It is part of the Clwydian range
in North Wales and is classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty. Moel Famau's
approximate 550 metre (I,800 feet) peak overlooks the counties of Denbighshire and
Flintshire. My new art painting of Moel Famau was commissioned by a private buyer
from Mold. Another mountain painting commission is from the Mid West Wales area of
“Cellan”.
“Afon Nant Peris”
Acrylic on Canvas
407 mm x 305 mm
(16 x 12 inches)
About the Painting: “Afon Nant Peris”
Afon Nant Peris forms part of the Llanberis Pass and this itself is in the Snowdonia
National Park, Gwynedd, North Wales. I was drawn to this idyllic scene by the various
bleached grasses in the foreground and the light strewn across the mid distant valley
inclines. The sky seemed to have a purple hue to it and so I accentuated the colour
of the rocks and stones accordingly. This painting was sold to a private collector
of Welsh artworks in mid West Wales soon after I finished painting it.
About the Painting: “Beach Fanny”
I stumbled across a sand dune on the Ceredigion coast which, to me, resembled the
nether regional part of the female anatomy. The slang in English is fanny but people
in the US might refer to it as a beaver! My contemporary art picture has a natural
abstract landscape paintings appeal to it. Politer beach scenes are shown in my Caerfai
Bay painting and my Marloes Sands painting.
About the Painting: “Caerfai Bay”
Caerfai Bay is the nearest beach to St. David’s in Pembrokeshire. The cliffs comprise
mainly a purple and red sandstone. St. David’s Cathedral seems to have been built
from this stone as evidenced by its stone colouring. I painted this acrylic painting
as a wedding present for a friend. I tweaked some of the composition, such as the
distant cliffs to give this new art painting more depth. The Welsh word Caer translates
to meaning “castle” in English but I do not know the meaning of Fai. My “Pembs Coastline”
painting includes purple hues too.
