About the Painting: “Into the Light”
The philosophy behind this painting suggests that there is “light at the end of a
tunnel” or in this case that you will be rewarded once you get to the top of the
stone steps. There are many hidden metaphors within this painting such as the cold
stone steps which could mean a basic arduous life. Similarly, the light on the steps
might mean that despite an arduous life it is a “meant-to-be” as you are being guided
by the “light”. In case you don’t know, as well as being a professional inspired
fine artist, I’m also quite a well known professional Spiritual Psychic Medium and
I do psychic email readings for my many clients around the World. If you enjoy the
colours in this painting then you might enjoy “Green Spiritual Light” too.
About the Painting: “Carew Castle Turret Steps”
Technically, this was a very difficult medieval castle painting to do as there are
different vanishing points in force. Although two principal views are offered either
by looking down the complete spiral stone stairwell or glancing off half way down
to the doorway, the intended meaning of this historic painting is philosophical.
It shows a generic pathway through life. You start at the bottom and you climb your
way to the top within the confines of your own World. The higher you climb, the lighter
it gets. A major choice is offered perhaps, as an escape route, by the existence
of the doorway which then leads to another flight of stone steps and which go upwards
too. “Into the Light” below has another type of meaning.
About the Painting: “Pembroke Castle Doorway”
This watercolour painting shows a corridor on an upper floor within Pembroke Castle’s
keep. One wall still displays a Norman soldier’s graffiti remark about his contempt
for his officer! The philosophy behind this painting is similar to the Carew Castle
Turret Steps medieval castle painting above. The light captured in this painting
does give it a fairly spooky effect and which replicates its real life atmosphere
quite well. An exterior view of a Pembroke Castle Tower is shown under the castle
paintings UK series on this site.

Medieval Castle Paintings
Medieval castle paintings with a difference are shown on this page of castle interiors.
And the paintings themselves have hidden meanings! These are briefly explained in
each respective informative note below and about each medieval castle interior painting.
“Carew Castle Turret Steps” was painted in oils and “Into the Light” was painted
in acrylic but both look as though they have been painted in oils. “Pembroke Castle
Doorway” was painted in many layers of watercolour glazes to build up its translucency.
I love painting castles and here in Wales there are many to visit. There’s another
page on this site dedicated to castle paintings within the UK where one painting
shows a “Pembroke Castle Tower” and another two show the famous Scottish fortress
named “Eilean Donan”. On the New Art paintings page you will see an aerial painting
of Carew Castle. When time permits I plan to do a few more medieval castle paintings
this year. If you have a favourite castle scene and would like to commission me to
paint it for you then I can easily work from reasonable quality photographic references.
