Welsh Landscape Paintings
Welsh landscape paintings on this page are originals from Wales with the exception
of the first shown and entitled “Great Bedwyn”. “Cellan” and “Llanwnnen” are original
Welsh landscape paintings representing views close to my Llanon home. “Ty Mawr” is
a commissioned landscape painting of a private house in Ceredigion whereas the painting
of “Hafan-y-Coed” near Swansea, is some 75 miles South East of Llanon. Cors Caron
Cows shows the peat bog landscape near to Tregaron in mid West Wales. I enjoy making
realistic landscape paintings by adhering to the composition detail and either tweaking
the colours or changing them altogether to make the landscape painting come alive,
so that you, the viewer, feels part of the picture. Other forms of original Welsh
landscape paintings may be viewed on this online paintings gallery such as but not
limited to original woodlands paintings, water paintings of Ceredigion, abstract
landscape paintings and farming paintings of Wales.

“Great Bedwyn”
Oil Pastel on Card
297 mm x 210 mm
(11.69x8.27 inches)
Price: GBP 215.00
About the Painting: “Great Bedwyn”
Great Bedwyn is a hamlet in Wiltshire, England. It is situated between Hungerford
and Marlborough and lies on the edge of Savernake Forest. I used to live nearby and
I would drive through this original landscape painting’s composition on almost a
daily basis. Professionally produced prints are available of Great Bedwyn as well
as greeting cards in self selected sizes and finishes. Another Oil Pastel painting
is entitled “Hafan-y-Coed” below on this page. Cellan is a painting showing much
smaller fields in comparison to those around Great Bedwyn.
“Cellan”
Acrylic on Canvas
508 mm x 407 mm
(20 x 16 inches)
About the Painting: “Cellan”
Nestling in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains in Mid West Wales, you will find
Cellan and quite close to Lampeter too. This particular original landscape painting
was commissioned by the son of a local resident. The scene captures the late afternoon
Winter sun quite well. The original landscape painting below this one and called
“Llanwnnen” is about five miles West of Cellan; you can see a similarity in the landscape.
“Llanwnnen”
Acrylic on Canvas
508 mm x 407 mm
(20 x 16 inches)
Price: GBP 375.00
About the Painting: “Llanwnnen”
Llanwnnen is situated along the Lampeter to Newcastle Emlyn road. The Southern view
of this contemporary landscape painting shows the approach from Cribyn en route to
Llanybydder. Contemporary landscape paintings such as “Llanwnnen” took several weeks
to finish as a layered technique of acrylic glazes was used. The scene shows Llanwnnen
in the mid distance. The hills behind are part of the Cambrian Mountain range. Moel
Famau is another Welsh mountain painting that you might like to see. My Ty Mawr painting
is hidden away in the landscape of Llanwnnen.
“Ty Mawr”
Acrylic on Canvas
203 mm x 254 mm
(8 x 10 inches)
About the Painting: “Ty Mawr”
“Ty Mawr” is Welsh for ‘big house or mansion’. This original landscape painting was
commissioned by the current house owner. The composition shows the main drive leading
up to the front wing of the house. If you would like your house painted as an original
landscape painting then please contact me, the artist, Edward McNaught-Davis. Although
this painting was painted with acrylics, the finish was made to look as though it
had been painted in oil paint and so too was my painting of Cors Caron Cows.
“Hafan-y-Coed”
Oil Pastel on Card
300 mm x 214 mm
(11.81 x 8.43 inches)
Price: GBP 185.00
About the Painting: “Hafan-y-Coed”
“Hafan-y-Coed” means ‘Haven in the Trees’. It is also the location of the Welsh Spiritual
Psychic Research and Development centre in the Brecon National Park near Swansea.
This original landscape painting was completed in one sitting using a fast impression
technique with artist’s quality Oil Pastels. The yellow wild flowers in the field
are Buttercups. The track to the right eventually leads to a lake.
“Cors Caron Cows”
Acrylic on Canvas
407 mm x 305 mm
(16 x 12 inches)
FRAMED
Price: GBP 375.00
About the Painting: “Cors Caron Cows”
Cors Caron translates as Tregaron Bog and it is understood to be Europe’s oldest
Peat Bog although the digging for peat now is strictly prohibitive. Instead the land
is now a famous Nature Reserve where farm animals mingle on its periphery with the
indigenous wild life. This farming painting is framed. The original sunsets paintings
of “Cows Drinking” will show you a different perspective of the landscape.
