Waterfall Paintings of Wales
Waterfall paintings of Wales is another category of original landscape paintings.
The waterfall paintings shown below are all cascading water scenes from Wales. Wales
offers an abundance of scope for mountain waterfall paintings but you do have to
search for the more beautiful looking ones and which tend to be in dense wooded areas.
There is something quite peaceful about mountain waterfalls providing the only noise
you can hear is made by the water. “Capeli Ditch” is just shows a miniature waterfall
but contained within a field ditch! The waterfall scene of “Green Spiritual Light”
had very still cool air entombed between its cliff walls and which was akin to the
cool still and spiritual air you would find in an old empty church. The waterfall
painting entitled “Welsh Waterfall” seems to show an effortless journey for its water
unlike the painting called “Green Brook” which seems to suggest that its water was
in rather a hurry to get down its hill/mountain. The mountain waterfall painting
entitled “Welsh Mountain Magic” was painted on a bright day and this is reflected
in its composition.

“Green Spiritual Light”
Acrylic on Paper
135 mm x 197 mm
(5.32 x 7.76 inches)
Price: GBP 135.00
About the Painting: “Green Spiritual light”
There is “something” about this painting which wants to draw me into its confines
as though it could double up as a spiritual retreat and give me time to reflect.
You need to study this painting closely to appreciate all the colours that make up
the darks for they are not just black. Another painting that uses darks to achieve
its contrasting effect is “Cwmmynach Boundary Brook” on the abstract landscape paintings
page. Also take a look at “Ford at Dole” on the water paintings of Ceredigion page.
Waterfalls in Wales such as the one shown in Welsh Mountain Magic are quite easy
to find.
“Welsh Mountain Magic”
Acrylic on Paper
161 mm x 229 mm
(6.34 x 9.02 inches)
Price: GBP 105.00
About the Painting: “Welsh Mountain Magic”
This waterfall scene is fairly typical in its composition but the colours emanating
from the forest and the slate stones give it a certain difference in comparison to
other waterfalls. The physical location of this scene was near to the Brecon Beacon
National Park and close to the medieval town of Llandeilo; about 15 miles East of
Carmarthen. These types of original landscape paintings are quite popular and from
time-to-time I am asked to paint a specific waterfall. If this interests you then
please see the details on how to commission me to paint your favourite waterfall
painting of Wales or indeed anywhere else.
“Green Brook”
Acrylic on Paper
200 mm x 135 mm
(7.87 x 5.32 inches)
Price: GBP 65.00
About the Painting: “Green Brook”
This shallow stepped waterfall runs down to the Irish Sea near a place called Cwmtudu
on the West Wales coast. Cwmtudu is an ancient smugglers cove located between Llangranog
and New Quay. There is also a large Lime Kiln on the beach at Cwmtudu. Wild garlic
aromas permeate the air around this vibrant stream. The bedrock is slate and which
attracts very slippery green algae. I plan to show more of my waterfall paintings
in due course and these will first appear under New Art paintings.
“Welsh Waterfall”

About the Painting: “Welsh Waterfall”
Although you can marvel at scenes like this from many Welsh Mountain or Woodland
roads, the only way to appreciate the beauty of such scenes is to walk into undisturbed
areas and find your own. Some countryside ditches can also offer scenes of mini waterfalls
as can be seen in my painting of “Capeli Ditch”.

About the Painting: “Capeli Ditch”
Capeli Ditch is just that, a ditch. Its main purpose is to drain away surplus water
from a field on a slight incline at Capeli Farm near Lampeter in mid West Wales.
I was inspired to paint it because of the golden spiritual light reflecting off its
water and the many different plant species growing within the ditch’s confines. Many
people wouldn’t give a ditch a second glance but some can be quite beautiful in their
own right as I’ve tried to show with this particular one. The painting itself took
many days to complete as it was all built up in layers of acrylic glazes on specially
prepared paper. Each layer had to dry before the next was applied.
