“Maestir Road View”
Acrylic on Panel
250 mm x 180 mm
(9.76 x 7.13 inches)
Price: GBP 125.00
About the Painting: “Maestir Road View”
A wildflower painting showing a gap in a hedge to expose a fabulous view of the Welsh
countryside, near the village of Cribyn, Lampeter, on a bright Summer’s day. The
trees in the mid distance seem to have a Monet appeal about them. Many people enjoy
the build up of my clouds in this painting. This scene was very close to my previous
home. Its boldness of colour is similar to my Great Bedwyn painting yet quite different
to my watercolour painting of Llanina Bridge.
“Llanina Bridge”
Watercolour on Paper
297 mm x 210 mm
(11.69 x 8.27 inches)
Framed under Glass
Price: GBP 225.00
About the Painting: “Llanina Bridge”
Bluebells adorn the stream banks in this wild flower painting. The freshwater stream
flows beyond the bridge for a further 200 yards or so to join the Irish Sea. The
sunlight captured in this painting has a certain bleaching effect but in reality
it did allow me to see what was on the river bed below the water and this detail
has been included. If you would like to see a view of this location as if standing
on the bridge then you need to see the “Stream at Llanina” painting on the Rivers
+ Stream page. Another bluebell painting, the Bluebell walk at Llanilar is shown
below, for comparison.
“Maestir Road Verge”
Oil Pastel on Paper
297 mm x 210 mm
(11.69 x 8.27 inches)
About the Painting: “Maestir Road Verge”
An unusual wildflower painting showing many different species of wild flowers all
growing together on a grass verge near the top of a steep hill and overlooking my
previous home near Lampeter, Ceredigion. It was quite a tricky painting to do as
oil pastel was used to lay the colours in and a painting knife was then used to etch
the detail of the various grasses, hedgerows and wildflowers. The flowers included
Bluebells, Campions and Daisies. Another bluebell painting to view is the “Bluebell
Fairy”.
“Bluebell Walk at Llanilar”
Watercolour on Paper
397 mm x 268 mm
(15.63 x 10.55 inches)
Price: GBP 295.00
About the Painting: “Bluebell Walk at Llanilar”
Llanilar is a favourite tourist picnic spot in the mountains to the East of Aberystwyth.
The bluebell walk runs parallel with a fast moving river the composition of which
you can see in the abstract landscape painting entitled “Inverted Lights”. I was
inspired to paint this bluebell woods painting because of the white afternoon light
strewn down the woodlands incline. This led to an interesting and beautiful composition.
The Maestir Road Verge oil pastel painting shows more bluebell flowers.
Wild Flowers Paintings
Wild flowers and paintings of the same are really original landscape paintings whose
theme supports either a detailed array of wildflowers or a blanket of them. The “Rosehips”
wild berry painting below was completed during 2009. The wildflower painting entitled
“Maestir Road View” shows common white flowers you’d find by the roadside during
the Summer months in West Wales. “Llanina Bridge” shows stream banks adorned in bluebells
and similarly the “Bluebell Walk” shows a footpath cutting through a woodland. The
wild flower painting “Maestir Road Verge” shows an unusual composition of a grassy
bank with a selection of wildflower species. You’ll find other wild flower paintings
under different categories such as under the Welsh landscape paintings section and
the original woodlands paintings page. Wild flowers that have been manipulated by
me, into an abstract theme, are shown under abstract landscape paintings.

About this Painting: “Rosehips”
Despite its small size, this painting of Rosehip Berries took many weeks to complete
as there is much fine detail with in it. The scene was visited daily by me, the artist,
with my dog as we lived close by. The painting includes sheep in both fields, crows
in the front field and a lone huntsman in the mid distance and who is placed just
in front of the woodlands. I put him there to take the colour of the red Rosehip
berries further back into the composition by making his jacket a similar shade of
red. This Rosehip berry painting was achieved with Artist’s Heavy Body acrylics and
with a small selection of brushes. The scene is less than one mile away from the
very different picture of Maestir Road View below.
